Prestech Construction took charge of this community project to design and build this 20,000 sq/ft three storey educational facility, serving the area of Deepdale in Preston.

The facility was greatly needed by the community to serve the out of hours educational and community needs of the not-for-profit charity.

The entire project was to be funded by the local and wider community and local businesses. As with any community funded project, working to a controlled budget without compromising on quality would be the deciding factor in gauging the success of the project.

With the encouragement and approval of the community, executive committee and trustees of the charity, we took responsibility to deliver the entire project from feasibility, design, construction to handover. The three storey educational facility accommodates 30 classrooms, library, staff room, nursery, IT suite and associated welfare facilities; with the whole build supplemented by a well-designed play area across the forefront and a sufficient car park adjacent to the facility.

The educational facility was designed with a structural steel frame skeleton and faced with a mixture of stone, brick, and curtain walling. The mixed use of these materials on the face of the build has transformed this into an aesthetically pleasing structure. The lighting used on the exterior has been designed in such a way that the building provides a sophisticated look during the day, and by night becomes an elegant architectural masterpiece. Prestech Construction also provided the designs for the internal layout, and again, provided a modern stylish look making full use of sustainable materials and systems.

Less than eighteen months later the new facility was opened to the delight of the local community and welcomed nearly four thousand well-wishers through its doors during the open viewing weekend.
